Disciplines and Capabilities

Our staff are intimately familiar with the recognized industry reserve and resource definitions, specifically those set forth by (1) U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Regulation S-X Rule 4-10(a), (2) the 2007 Petroleum Resources Management System approved by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and (3) the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (Calgary Chapter) and Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (Petroleum Society). We employ deterministic methods to estimate reserves for most evaluations and also utilize stochastic methods to determine probabilistic estimates of reserves for many exploration studies, early field development projects, and large field developments.

Geology and Geophysics

Our staff has extensive experience with complex structural and stratigraphic fields throughout the world, including many with unconventional reservoirs such as fractured basement, tight gas, and coalbed methane. Geological and geophysical maps are fully integrated with production and engineering data to ensure reliable estimates of reserve potential. NSAI has performed field characterization and reserve assessments that range from exploration areas and early appraisal drilling to fully developed fields. Our experience covers most producing basins in the world and a wide range of sedimentary depositional environments including continental, fluvial, deltaic, marine, and deepwater. Well log correlation with integrated petrophysical, production, and seismic data is integral to all our reservoir studies.

Petrophysics

Our petrophysicists have performed petrophysical evaluations for wells located in most of the major petroleum provinces in the world. We have experience in the evaluation of a wide range of complex lithology in clastic and carbonate reservoirs, and have performed fractured reservoir analyses in clastic, carbonate, shale, and basement environments. Evaluations include full integration of all available well log, core, geological, and well performance data. NSAI can assist with the development of efficient well log and core analysis programs to meet the necessary formation evaluation requirements for the least cost.

•    Computerized log analysis for comprehensive field studies
•    Log normalization
•    Custom modeling for facies identification and volumetric parameters
•    Batch processing capability
•    Geostatistical analysis for complex environments
•    Calibration of results through integration of core and test data

Economics

Along with our detailed technical evaluations, we apply our skill and judgment to the economic analysis to deliver reports that are rooted in sound methodology and data. We deliver a full and fair inventory of reserves and cash flow. Our in-house proprietary economics system and industry-standard software are used to estimate future producing rates, future net revenue, and the present value of such future net revenue in accordance with industry standards and other applicable regulatory provisions. We can independently evaluate pricing, expenses, capital, and the reasonableness of future development plans.

•    Economic evaluation of oil and gas properties
•    Reports to assist in property trades, sales, acquisitions, and mergers
•    International economic analysis including profit- and cost-based production sharing agreements
•    Fair market value determinations
•    Appraisals for tax purposes
Counseling to commercial and investment bankers
•    Customized tax and royalty calculations
